Customer Spotlight – Del Papa Distributing
One hundred years ago, Omero Del Papa converted a small grocery store into a wholesale business that would ultimately become Del Papa Distributing Co., selling 10 million cases of beer a year.
Headquartered at 6702 Broadway in Galveston, Texas, the company is the exclusive distributor of Anheuser-Busch products in 17 counties, which means that if you’ve had a Budweiser beer at a bar, hotel or restaurant in Galveston, Beaumont or Victoria, it came from a Del Papa warehouse.
Del Papa has survived two World Wars, the Great Depression, Prohibition, several hurricanes and changing consumer tastes to become an enterprise with 2,500 retail accounts, 370 employees, and three distribution centers.
Still owned by the founder’s family, Del Papa is marking the milestone with events throughout the year and by initiating a college scholarship fund that endows all community and four-year colleges and universities in its territories.
